The origins of Desseli trace back to a small village located in central Sweden. Desseli was founded by me, at the time a mother of two toddlers. It started as a hobby—a way to preserve space for creativity, joy, and emotional recharge at the end of intense days as a stay-at-home mother.
It began out of curiosity about what a couple of cones of yarn and an old weaving loom placed in a corner of my home could produce. I immersed myself in the basics of weaving by studying old Swedish books and any available knowledge I could find. There was plenty of experimentation, trial, and error along the way.
The most valuable lessons came from failures—each setback teaching resilience and determination. Without fear or hesitation, I continued onward, never giving up, always standing back up and moving closer to the goal of creating beautiful fabric. Each failure led to new solutions; solutions evolved into skills, and skills developed into mastery. This passion and deep love for the craft have shaped Desseli into what it represents today.
Our philosophy is centered around achieving classy looks fit for royalty, fabric quality designed to last generations, uniqueness, and artistry in its highest form
Worldwide Brand
Word about Desseli has spread by word-of-mouth, expanding far beyond our country of origin. Our fabric pieces now reside in homes across the globe, having traveled all the way to the USA, Canada, Australia, China, and throughout Europe.
Some of our art pieces function as baby carriers; our baby wraps blend beauty, class, and practicality, keeping little ones comfortably close during everyday tasks, chores, forest walks, hikes, beach days, or travel, while promoting safety and healthy neurological development.
Other fabric pieces serve elegantly as shawls, stylishly keeping shoulders cozy, while some are chosen specifically to create luxurious and unique clothing. Additionally, certain pieces are proudly displayed as wall art, enhancing spaces as beautiful paintings.
